How Removing Stains from the Ceramic Sink?

Soak the sink with a bleach solution. In an empty plastic spray bottle, combine a 1:1 solution of bleach and water. Lightly shake the bottle to mix the solution. Open the window or turn on your bathroom fan before you start spraying the bleach solution, as this will provide ventilation. Then, spray the bleach solution over the entire interior surface of the ceramic sink. Let the bleach mixture sit and soak for about 10 minutes. Then, use a sponge or an old rag to wipe the sink clean.


Bleach is a strong chemical and can be very harmful if ingested or sprayed in the eyes. Use caution when spraying bleach, consider wearing safety goggles or at least rubber gloves, and wear clothing that you don’t care about. If there are young children in your house, make sure that they’re not near the sink when you’re spraying bleach.


Apply cream of tartar and vinegar. If you would prefer to not use any chemical cleaners, you can remove stains from the ceramic with a mixture of cream of tartar and vinegar. Combine the cream of tartar and the vinegar at a 1:1 ratio in a small mixing bowl, and stir them together. Then, spoon some of the mixture onto the stains on your ceramic. Let this sit for about 10 minutes, and wipe clean with a sponge.


This method will also work if you substitute hydrogen peroxide for the vinegar. All three of these ingredients can be purchased at your local grocery store or supermarket. Scrub the stain gently with a pumice stone. Pumice stone is quite abrasive and can scrub stains off of your ceramic. Before using, run the pumice under water, and make sure that the stone stays wet while you’re rubbing out a stain. Then, lightly scrub at the stained area of your ceramic sink. The pumice should remove the discoloration.


Be careful when using this method. If you apply a pumice stone to a ceramic sink, the stone may scratch or damage the surface. Begin by rubbing gently, and stop if you see any scratches forming.

How Fitting the New Tub and Installing the Drain?

Select a tub that will fit in the designated space. Measure the length and width of the alcove where you will install the tub. Also, measure the height and width of your bathroom doorway to make sure the tub will fit through the bathroom door! Take your measurements to a home improvement store to guide your purchase.

If you’re replacing an old tub, choose a new tub with a similar configuration and make sure the drain and faucets are on the same side and in roughly the same location to make installation easier. Make sure your tub comes with all the faucets, drains, and accessories you will need. Typically, you’ll need a faucet, water handles, and the drain, which includes the drain chute, strainer, strainer cover, trip lever, stopper, linkage, and overflow drain cover.

Dry-fit the tub in the alcove. To ensure the tub fits, place it in the designated area. Check that the drain hole in the bottom of the tub lines up with the P-trap in the floor underneath the tub. Ensure you have the right fittings to connect the water supply lines to the faucet you purchased, as well.

Set the tub somewhere safe after you make sure it fits so you can move onto installing a ledger board. Use caution to prevent scratches or other damage to your new tub! Install a ledger board. Cut a 2 by 4 in (5.1 by 10.2 cm) board to the length of the wall that the long edge of the tub will be placed against. Measure the height of the lip, or flange, of the tub, then mark that height measurement on the back wall.

Use a drill to screw the ledger board to the studs in the wall so that the top of the ledger board is just below the flange when the tub is sitting level in the alcove. A ledger board helps support the weight of the tub and ensures it can be securely attached to the wall.

Frameless mirrors will usually need to be glued onto the wall to avoid the appearance of bulky hooks. You can also use picture wire or mirror mounting clips to seamlessly mount or hang a frameless mirror.

Choose a framed mirror for easier hanging. Make sure to choose a frame that matches the décor in your bathroom. For example, choose a cherry wood frame if your bathroom cabinets or vanity are done in cherry, or choose a tiled frame to match your bathroom tiles.

The mirror in your bathroom can also be a fun statement piece. Consider a mirror with a brightly colored or mosaic-style frame, or try a mirror with a unique shape (like a crescent moon or heart) to add flair and style. Narrow frames are best for smaller mirrors and create a sleek, modern look for the space. Thicker frames tend to be richer and more ornate.

Buy a custom-cut mirror and frame for an unusually-sized space. Though it’s typically more expensive and less convenient to buy a custom-made mirror and frame, they can create a unique effect. If you’re framing your mirror separately, ask for frame samples from a framing website or frame/mirror store to decide whether a frame is the right look for your mirror and bathroom.

Create a template for the shape of the mirror. Cut a piece of paper or poster board in your desired shape and hang it on the wall using tape to get an idea of how a style will look in your bathroom. This will save you time and money if you decide the style isn’t what you’re looking for. Making a template can also help you determine if the mirror you have in mind will be the right size for your space.

How to Buy a Bathroom Mirror?

Bathroom mirrors combine both style and function, and can have a big impact on the small but important space of the bathroom. Deciding on an approximate size, style and placement of the mirror, and taking into account your budget and existing bathroom decor, will make your trip to the mirror store easy and efficient.

Consider both the height of the wall and the height of the people who will be using the bathroom most often. For example, a bathroom used only by adults will probably have a taller mirror than one used frequently by children. Make sure your mirror is tall enough to accommodate people at least of average height (5’5” or 165 cm for women, 5’10” or 178 cm for men) and slightly taller and shorter.

Install sconces alongside the mirror or lights above it for a bathroom with no window. Make sure the lighting source will provide enough light to see your reflection clearly but won’t create a glare on the mirror. Sconces vary widely in size, but in the bathroom you should go with a smaller model, about 8-10 in. (20-25cm), or thin and elongated. Your sconces should be about 1/3-2/3rds the length of the mirror.

Buy 2 of the same model and place them at least 4 in (10 cm) away from the mirror on either side. Factor their size and distance from the mirror into your measurements. Take care not to place the sconces too high or too low. Line them up with the center of the mirror.

Place the mirror a few inches (several cm) above the sink to lessen backsplash. If your sink is prone to splashing water out, place your mirror high enough above the vanity so that it won’t get hit. Remember to factor this into your measurements for the height of your mirror.

Accommodate accessories and/or electrical outlets. If you plan to install sconces or have electrical outlets around your mirror, factor them into your mirror’s size and placement. Make sure to leave a few inches or several centimeters of space between the mirror and electrical outlets to avoid cluttering the space. If you plan to put décor or practical objects on your countertop, make sure to place them so they won’t collide with your mirror.
